Personal Work

As a design student, I have always found ways to express art through different medians other than Interior Design. In this personal work folder, you will find many of my own art work I have done including painting jeans jackets, and dived into trying photography. During COVID, I found ways to be productive when not in school, along with developing my skills even further with the downtime it offered.

I decided to start my own small company, “ARLYRI” in order to express my love for art and share it with those around me. The logo seen at the top of the page shows how skilled I am with InDesign along with developing my own brand. I have done painted jean jackets, clay mold earrings, painted cup glasses, and more.

Through my Junior year of college, I got the opportunity to enroll in an intermediate photography class due to my past knowledge of using a camera. Within this class, we learned about different types of film cameras along with the normal DSLR. The pictures seen above, are my final project. I decided to take pictures of a family farm in Lecompton, Ks.

Artists Statement:

“THE FARM”

The family farm is a dying species. For most Americans, the concept of a farm only lays in our imagination, in stories and images we were once told. It is a complicated story to tell, as some do not understand. I mean to call attention to the farm, not just an observable landscape element, but as brief images that we can manipulate in our minds. One of the hardest chores this brings is trying so hard to capture scenes that many do not get to experience in their lives while being able to help hold onto the generations of hard work and determination through the simplicity of a camera lens. Though it is an exhilarating and exuberant feeling to be able to see the rich history of a family farm, whom to got to meet, sometimes it takes multiple ranges of rich images to push those imaginations to reality. Not many get to encounter this type of aspect of a “family farm”, but I wish to help make those around me understand the importance of such history.
